薯通过一定斜度的清洗沟槽流送，在清洗沟槽中红薯被水浸泡附着在表面的相当一部分大块泥土脱落，之后红薯被送人清洗机内，经过2次或3次清洗后，被送人下一道工序或通过倾斜式输送带输送到贮存料斗中备用。引进成套设备中清洗工艺采用2台或3台板式清洗机串联。清洗机主要的优点是，能满足设计要求，清洗效果较好，清洗后，可以进行连续生产，能够使设备尺寸缩小，结构简单，耗水量少，使红薯的破损率降低等。
