含硼聚乙烯板在核电、放射诊疗、工业、高能物理研究等领域的快速发展和应用袁中子辐射危害已成为重要的辐射损伤危害因素。就屏蔽快中子原理而言,由于高密度聚乙烯对快中子具有良好的慢化作用,而硼元素(10B)又具有较高的热中子吸收截面,因此,采用一定10B含量的硼聚乙烯就成为屏蔽快中子的良好屏蔽材料。为提高中子屏蔽效果,降低含硼聚乙烯屏蔽材料成本,根据聚乙烯漫化快中子和硼热中子吸收截面大的特性研制了含硼超高分子量聚乙烯板。
