无色或浅黄色透明液体，在20 ℃相对密度为0.98。易溶于水和极性有机溶剂，微溶于非极性有机溶剂在水溶液中显示非离子或阳离子特性。当pH值＜7时呈阳离子性，氧化胺本身是优良的洗涤剂，能产生稳定而丰富的泡沫，熔点132～133 ℃。
